Questions we are frequently asked

a

Do you provide intensive driving courses in Northern Ireland?

No.

We only arrange intensive driving course on the UK mainland including Isle of Wight but excluding Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and Scottish Islands.

We are unable to arrange driving tests for holders of Northern Ireland driving licences.

a

What if I have more questions?

If there is anything you need to know that is not covered by the questions above or the pupil or instructor terms and conditions just contact us here.

a

How does it work?

MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk is a purely online intensive driving course booking service working for local independent driving instructors throughout the UK excluding Northern Ireland, the Scottish Islands and the Channel Islands.

Pupils choose an intensive driving course on our website, input their details and pay a booking deposit payment.

On receipt of a booking

  • We arrange test appointments where required
  • Confirm receipt of deposit, course and test dates with the pupil within 2 working days
  • Notify instructors already registered with us that a booking for their vehicle type and a postcode area they cover is available to claim on a first come first served basis
  • If the course is not claimed within 14 days we cancel and refund the pupil deposit.
  • After 14 days the instructor contacts the pupil to introduce themselves, confirm the course details and to arrange for payment of the course balance which is due 2 weeks before the start of the course.

We manage, maintain and continually improve and market the website. We deal with pupil enquiries regarding the intensive courses offered.

We are so confident in your ability as a qualified driving instructor that, as part of our marketing on your behalf, we pay for the pupil’s next test if they fail. See what happens if I fail my test for more details.

a

Do you have cancellation slots or earlier course dates?

Hardly any courses get cancelled once the booking has been confirmed. So the chances of one getting cancelled for the dates you would prefer in your area are tiny.

Availability of intensive driving courses on our website are based on whether or not you have passed your theory test, the type of vehicle and whether you already have a test appointment booked.

All driving test appointments are administered by the DVSA. The average waiting time for a test appointment from booking to test date is about 6 weeks but can be 8 or even 12 weeks in some parts of the UK. It is not possible to know the waiting time at a particular test centre unless making a booking.

When we book a practical driving test for you your course start date will be in roughly 6 weeks time.

If a theory test is required we add another 2 weeks to allow for passing that.

Far fewer instructors are able to provide intensive driving courses in automatic rather than manual cars. As a result they tend to be busier and fully booked further ahead so we add another 2 weeks to allow for this.

If you want an intensive driving course in a manual car and already have a test appointment your earliest course start date will be in about 4 weeks time.

a

What happens if I fail my practical driving test?

With our courses of 36 or more hours we are so confident that you will pass that we will pay for your next test if you fail!

There are a few Terms and Conditions.

  • your instructor agrees that your driving has reached an acceptable standard
  • your instructor’s car is used for the test
  • you notify mydrivinginstructor.co.uk of the result of your test within 14 days

We will book the test for as soon as possible at the same test centre.

You are free to change the appointment via the DVSA test booking service. The test we book will be a standard weekday £62 test but if you want to change it to a weekend £75 test you can pay extra when changing the appointment.

We will book you a test but we won’t send you the money for you to book it yourself.

See the full terms and conditions here

a

Do you arrange both theory and practical tests?

We can book a driving theory test for you or you can book your theory test here https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test

However it is not possible to book a practical test for you until you have passed your theory test so the sooner you pass your theory test the better.

The average waiting time for Theory Tests is about 3 weeks.

If you haven’t already passed your theory test when you book we will provide free full access to www.theorytestpro.co.uk to give you the best possible chance of a first time pass.

Try www,theorytestpro.co.uk for free now. We will upgrade it to full access when you book your course.

As soon as you tell us you have passed your theory test we will book a practical driving test for, or as close as possible, to the last afternoon of your course.

The availability of our courses takes into account the availability of both theory and practical test appointments.

Please note that it has never been realistic to take a theory test and practical within the same week or two, even before the Covid pandemic.

a

Do you have a telephone number I can call?

MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk is a purely online driving course booking service working for local independent driving instructors.

To keep costs as low as possible for our instructors, and ultimately their pupils, we do not operate a telephone call centre or call back service.

However we are more than happy to deal with any questions not answered in FAQ or Terms and Conditions by email.

a

What happens after I pay the deposit for my intensive driving course?

After you have paid your deposit you have the right to cancel at anytime within 14 days.

If your intensive driving course includes a practical driving test our first task is to book a test appointment at a local driving test centre to coincide with the end of the course and arrange an instructor for your course.

Depending on availability of driving tests and instructors we may come back to you with alternative course and test dates.

You are under no obligation to accept alternative dates and if you have not explicitly agreed to revised course and test dates within 14 days of booking we will automatically cancel and refund your deposit in full.

a

Do you have instructors in my area?

We work with nearly 1000 independent local driving instructors throughout mainland UK.

Once a booking deposit is received we immediately start work arranging a driving test appointment and your instructor.

It is not possible reserve course and test dates without a booking deposit.

You can cancel your booking at anytime within 14 days and receive a full refund.

a

How can I find out more?

If you have any queries not answered we will be pleased to answer any questions you may have by email.

You can send your query here.

a

What payment methods do you accept when booking an intensive driving course?

Deposit payments can be made by debit card, credit card or from your PayPal account.

Online credit and debit card deposit payments are processed by PayPal but it is not necessary to have a PayPal account to pay by credit or debit card.

Please note that payments to MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk may be identified on card statements as to Gingadog Web Design, owners and operators of the MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk website.

a

Do I need to pay a deposit when booking my intensive driving course?

Yes.

The amount of the deposit varies depending on the course that is being booked.

When you book your course you will have up to 14 days to cancel and receive a refund.

After 14 days the deposit is non-refundable.

The balance of the course fee is payable directly to your instructor 14 days before the start of the course.

a

Do I need to pass my Theory Test before booking an intensive driving course?

We recommend that you pass your driving theory test before booking any intensive driving course that includes a practical driving test. You can book your driving theory test here https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test

If you book your course before passing the theory we provide full free access to www.theorytestpro.co.uk to help with your preparation.

It is not possible to book a practical test until you have passed the theory test and it is often several weeks from booking until the first available practical driving test appointment. So it is not realistic to expect to be able to pass both theory and practical driving tests in a week or even two.

Whether or not you have passed your theory your course will start on the booked date but the last day can be held back until the test day.

a

Can I pass my driving test with an intensive driving course?

Yes you can.

Your instructor will do everything they can to make sure you have all the knowledge, experience and confidence you need to pass your driving test first time.

In fact we are so confident we will pay for your next test if you don’t pass after one of hour 36 hour or more courses.

a

Will I be sharing the car with anyone else on my intensive driving course?

Absolutely not!

All MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk intensive driving courses are strictly one to one.

You will not be asked to share the car and the driving with another pupil.

a

Are MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk instructors fully qualified?

Yes.

Only fully qualified driving instructors may work with MyDrivingInstructor.co.uk

All instructors are CRB / DBS checked and registered with the DVSA, the government body responsible for the driving test and driving instructor standards.

a

Should I pass the Theory Test before booking an intensive course?

Ideally yes. It is not possible for us to book your practical driving test until you have the theory test. You can book your driving theory test here
https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test

If you have not passed the theory at the time of booking we will provide free full access to www.theorytestpro.co.uk to help with your preparation.

The waiting time for practical tests can be 6 – 10 weeks in many parts of the country so to be sure of a driving test at, or near, the end of your course you need to have passed your theory test before booking your intensive driving course.

With the Theory Test out of the way your intensive driving course will be all about putting the theory into practice.
